Meet Alex, AMFT

“My priority is to create a safe and supportive therapeutic space, which will serve as the foundation of the work we do together. I will begin therapy with you wherever you are, and will continually encourage you to share whatever is on your mind – including thoughts, feelings, experiences or dreams. Together we will also explore your past and the ways in which it informs who you are today.”

Educational and Professional Summary

Alexandra Seastrunk, who goes by Alex, is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT#103745) supervised by Camille Johnson (LMFT#81572). She earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara and her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

Alex has worked in a variety of settings within the mental health field – including community mental health and substance abuse treatment, the non-profit sector, higher education, and private practice. She has experience providing individual therapy, couples therapy, group therapy and grief counseling.

Therapeutic Approach

Alex currently offers individual therapy to adults and adolescents. She also provides couples therapy to adults who are experiencing relationship difficulties or looking to strengthen their bond with their partner.

Her approach integrates a variety of techniques, but is grounded in depth psychology. Alex has found this approach to be especially meaningful in her own life and in her work with clients, as it looks beyond symptoms to get to the heart of the matter. Through getting to know ourselves deeply, we are able to grow and change. As your therapist, she will walk with you through this process of transformation.

Alex has lived on the Central Coast for over a decade and appreciates the relaxed atmosphere that SLO has to offer. She is an animal-lover and enjoys spending quality time with her two pups. In her spare time she also likes to engage her creative side through reading books, writing, or getting into a good movie or television show. She loves a good conversation and values the time she gets to spend with her close friends and family.
