Debbie (licensed as Deborah Whitney) provides caring therapy to individuals and couples. From serving community members at a non-profit mental health agency and private practice to three decades of teaching preschool—a variety of life experience makes her a kind therapeutic partner to support children, adolescents, and adults. Beyond motherhood and postpartum issues, areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, phase of life transitions, parenting skills and relational challenges.

Debbie is a licensed through the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist ( LMFT #139267).

Therapeutic Approach

Eclectic with a focus of person-centered psychotherapy and positive psychology, Debbie offers a safe non-judgmental space to build awareness, confidence, and personal growth. Teamwork is encouraged. Family systems, attachment, multicultural, cognitive-behavioral, gestalt, existential, and art therapy techniques all contribute to her clients' journeys of self-discovery.

Inspired by art and nature, Debbie loves to get creative! Outside the practice you'll find her hiking, gardening, or traveling. She especially enjoys experiencing good food with friends and family or kicking back with an old movie.
