Educational & Professional Summary
Rachel received her Masters in Social Work from San Jose State University in 2016. She previously received her Bachelors of Sciences in Child Development with a minor in Psychology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2011.
Rachel has worked in the mental health and human services field for over 12 years as a therapist, social worker, and mental health/ behavioral counselor. She has extensive experience and training working with foster and adoptive families and with youth who have experienced trauma. Rachel has worked in several therapeutic settings in both San Luis Obispo County and the Bay Area including outpatient therapy clinics, community-based mental health, refugee support programs, and school-based counseling.
Rachel is licensed through the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW #90795).
Rachel provides therapy to adolescents, couples, families, and adults in all phases of life facing a variety of needs, including anxiety, relationship challenges, family conflicts, life transitions and trauma. Rachel utilizes an eclectic mix of therapy styles, but leans most heavily toward strengths based, client centered, and cognitive behavioral approaches in therapy. She emphasizes utilizing clients strengths and building a strong therapeutic relationship to facilitate healing and growth. Rachel also has a focus on learning about how cultural background and family systems interact with personal challenges faced by her clients. She uses her calm, warm presence to support clients in feeling safe and heard.
Outside of her work as a therapist, Rachel enjoys spending time at the beach, going for long walks and hikes with her family, playing volleyball, and spending time with friends over a cup of tea.
