About
Rachel provides therapy to adults and families in all phases of life facing a variety of needs including trauma, grief, life transitions, childhood wounds, anxiety, relationship challenges, and family conflicts.
A calming presence with 14+ years in mental health and human services, Rachel has experience as a therapist, social worker, and behavioral counselor. The majority of her extensive experience has centered around helping people heal from past trauma, including foster and adoptive families and children, refugees, and those with complex childhood or relational trauma. She’s worked in therapeutic settings across San Luis Obispo County and the Bay Area from outpatient therapy clinics and community-based mental health to refugee support programs and school-based counseling.
Rachel is licensed through the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW #90795).
Therapeutic Approach
Rachel is dedicated to welcoming each person that comes into her office with warmth, compassion, and humility, hoping that each person leaves feeling safe and heard. Utilizing an integrative approach of attachment-based, trauma informed, and somatic psychology, Rachel takes great joy in forming strong therapeutic relationships with her clients, and is eager to get to know you, your cultural and familial background, and your strengths. Rachel is willing to explore the deep wounds, traumatic experiences, and ups and downs of life, while also making room for laughter and lightness as she facilitates post traumatic growth and resilience.
Therapeutic Training
In addition to her Master’s level training, Rachel has completed extensive training in treating complex childhood trauma with a focus on EMDR, somatic, and attachment based interventions. Rachel has additional training in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, postpartum mental health, and clinical interventions for those impacted by adoption.
Good To Know
In her free time, Rachel is most fulfilled when outdoors- long walks, beach time, and camping with her family and friends are some of her favorite activities. She also loves catching up with friends over a cup of tea, and taking naps.
